I had previously wondered how a person could NOT come up with a topic to blog about. Prior to this week, I seemed to have at least 3 posts formulating in my head at any given time. Now that school is out and I have time to sit down and write something...nothing comes to mind. Even now, "days later"...ok, ok, inside movie quote.
Speaking of movies, summer is a great time to be able to enjoy sitting down and watching a flick. I have recently borrowed 5 from the library (the maximum limit of my card) and I hope to watch them all this week. I am a movie buff. But I rarely go to the theater. Okay, I have stumbled onto a topic. Going to movies. I was raised that it was wrong to go to a movie theater. I'm not saying that that was good or bad. I'm glad I was raised not going to movies. We still watched them in the privacy of our own home. And I still like to do that now--especially since the advent of the TV Guardian (Curse-free TV), which is a great invention that I would highly recommend. But I have currently been inside a movie theater to see a movie now...5 times. And it has always been with people who have no qualms about the experience. It is also my goal to not randomly go to a movie, but to check out the movie I am going to see to make sure it is worthwhile. And there are some movies that ARE big-screen movies--that is, they are really cool on the big screen. I agree with my cousin Mark when he said that The Chronicles of Narnia: LWW was one such movie (which was the latest one I saw in a theater). Besides, movies are EXPENSIVE! Why waste big bucks on something like that all the time? Especially when, if you are patient and wait long enough, you can get them from the library for 2 weeks for FREE? There is one upcoming movie, though, that I WOULD pay to go to a movie theater to see: Pirates of the Caribbean 2!! I hope it's as good as the first!!
So, the moral of the story: if you have slumped into a dearth of blog topics, just start posting, apparently!

Okay, first of all, I thought the subject of the blog was "death" and I had no idea what I was about to read....scared me....Secondly, I know where you are coming from. I too agree there are BIG screen movies you just HAVE to see on the big screen! It's even better when you are with people who will equally enjoy the movie as you know you will. Friends, family, people you care about...there is something special about it :-) So, go enjoy Pirates......"Yo ho Yo ho...."
Speaking of TVG, check out my post on CleanFilms...another great tool for at home movies.
Yep, the old "sinful movie house" argument is, in my opinion, primarily a generational issue. Yay for those movie review sites that help us make wise decisions about what to watch on the Big Screen!!
We have a theater in our area that shows movies for $2/person. YAY! You have to wait a little longer to watch them there, but it's worth the savings!
yeah, i only go to a movie if it's w/friends and it's supposed to be really good like Pirates of the Carribean. Only about one more month! "She's the Man" is also really good imo...for a chick-flick!
I agree with "the hill family"...I thought it was going to be about death too - you'd better be careful how you word your headings, Beth.
And as for movies, yes, I would go if it was something that I really wanted to see or "MTM" (Movie theatre material), but I would't waste my money to go see something I really don't want to see.
I told my parents a long time ago that while I was under their roof, I would respect their rules about not going to movies, but that it wasn't a conviction I had, and not something I would carry with me when on my own. We don't really go to the movies very often since our cable has "in demand" which allows us to watch the movie at home for like $3.00 instead of paying for both of us to go to a movie. It's cheaper and more comfortable - just not big screen and not as fast to come out. The last time we went, we had free passes thanks to our giving of blood. In Florida, they seriously bribe you for your blood. :) We will give soon since right now we would each get a $20 gift certificate to Home Depot. Yeah, you can tell my motivations are in the right spot, right?
Looks nice! Awesome content. Good job guys.
